The Chantry School
Curriculum overview
At The Chantry School, our curriculum is broad, balanced and ambitious, giving every pupil the knowledge, skills and experiences they need for a fast-changing world.
Our Curriculum Philosophy
We are committed to a curriculum that challenges all pupils, is inclusive and relevant, and has real value beyond the classroom.
We build on our ethos of high aspirations, ensuring every pupil has access to the same rich curriculum entitlement. Literacy, oracy and numeracy underpin all subjects, enabling pupils to communicate confidently, think critically and apply key skills fluently.
Across the curriculum, pupils are encouraged to think deeply, make connections and develop increasing intellectual rigour. Trips, fieldwork and cultural experiences enrich learning and broaden horizons.
Our aim is simple: to nurture kind, confident and successful young people who are ready for their next steps and excited about the future.

Key Stage 3
Broad, Balanced and Purposeful
In Years 7–9, pupils experience a broad curriculum building knowledge, skills and habits for success. KS3 allows discovery of interests while developing foundations in all subjects.
Pupils study the full National Curriculum enhanced by Personal Development. Lessons develop initiative, teamwork, creativity and core academic skills.
The curriculum ensures continuous progression with each stage building on prior learning. All pupils study core subjects plus Humanities, Languages, Arts, Technology, PE and PSHE.
This three-year KS3 prepares pupils to be confident, informed learners ready for KS4 choices.
Key Stage 4
Ambition, Choice and Future Pathways
In Years 10–11, pupils follow a personalised programme designed to challenge them and open doors to future opportunities. Our KS4 curriculum provides academic rigour, including the full EBacc, plus creative, technological and vocational subjects.
We support every pupil to make informed choices reflecting their interests and strengths. Quality teaching, targeted support and careers guidance ensure all pupils remain on track and prepared for post-16 education, apprenticeships or employment.
At The Chantry School, KS4 is a launchpad – giving pupils the qualifications, character and skills to thrive beyond Year 11.
