Local Governing Body (LGB) of The Chantry School
The Chantry School is part of The Heart of Mercia Multi-Academy Trust, which consists of three sixth form colleges and two secondary schools. There is provision for a maximum of 20 governors to be appointed to the LGB comprising:
- Independent/Community Governors
- Staff Governors – at least one and maximum two
- Parent Governors – minimum of two
- The Headteacher
- The Trust CEO on an ex-officio basis, or their delegated representative
The three core strategic functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
- Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent
Governors are also responsible for ensuring that the school meets statutory requirements, to meet at least three times a year and to provide focused governance for the Multi-Academy Trust at a local level. Governors are required to sign up to and follow the Code of Conduct adopted by the MAT Board of Directors and to sign a declaration of eligibility, declare any interest and any connected party relationships upon appointment and thereafter annually.
