The Chantry School Safeguarding Statement

At The Chantry School, safeguarding is woven into every aspect of school life. It goes far beyond responding to concerns: it includes prevention, early support, and a commitment to ensuring that the wellbeing and best interests of every pupil guide our practice.

Strong safeguarding arrangements

We recognise our responsibility to ensure strong safeguarding arrangements are in place. This includes creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment through high-quality teaching, effective pastoral care, ongoing staff training, and close partnership with parents, carers and external agencies. Our aim is to provide a setting where pupils can flourish and feel protected.

We work towards this by:

  • Maintaining a secure, caring environment and taking proportionate steps to reduce the risk of harm.
  • Ensuring clear and robust processes so that any concern about a pupil’s welfare is acted upon promptly and appropriately.

Preventative approach

As part of our preventative approach, we help pupils to develop confidence, critical thinking and an understanding of how to keep themselves safe in the wider world, including online.

Above all, we are committed to nurturing an ethos where pupils and families feel able to talk openly with us. We want everyone to feel listened to, taken seriously and reassured that concerns will be handled sensitively and professionally.
