The Chantry School

Pastoral overview

At The Chantry School, our pastoral culture is rooted in care, connection and inclusion.

Our Pastoral Philosophy

We are a compassionate community where every pupil is known, valued and supported to thrive both academically and personally. We recognise that young people face different challenges as they grow, so we prioritise creating an environment where they feel safe, listened to and understood.

Our approach is proactive and consistent, focusing on early identification of need, strong relationships and open communication between pupils, staff and families. Tutors, Heads of Year and the pastoral team work closely together to ensure each child has access to the right support at the right time.

Through this culture of empathy, belonging and high expectation, pupils develop resilience, ambition and self-awareness, equipping them with the confidence and emotional strength to flourish and make a positive contribution to our school and wider community.

Strong relationships

Strong relationships underpin everything we do. We work closely with partner primary schools to ensure a smooth transition into Year 7, and with further education providers to support pupils moving into the next stage of their education.

We also collaborate with a wide range of external professionals including Educational Psychologists, Communication and Interaction specialists, sensory impairment teams and medical colleagues, ensuring that each pupil receives the right expertise at the right time.

Our aim is simple. Every pupil should feel noticed, listened to and supported to flourish. We are committed to nurturing the whole child so they can thrive in our community and feel confident about the future that lies ahead.
